The bronze serpent in the wilderness was originally a powerful symbol of salvation, but over time it became an idol unto itself that needed to be destroyed. Yet Jesus does not minimize the bronze serpent's original intent but rather preaches it accurately.
How do we allow good things to become idols in our lives? In what areas do we seek the gift of God over God Himself?
